About Samuel Harris

British tenor Sam Harris is a current member of the Opernstudio at the Staatsoper Stuttgart. He was a finalist in the 2023 Kathleen Ferrier awards and a semifinalist in the 2025 Hans Gabor Belvedere competition. Born in Edinburgh, he began his musical career as a boy chorister at Winchester Cathedral. He studied at the Royal College of Music under Peter Savidge and Ben Johnson, singing numerous leading roles during his time there, including Camille de Rosillon (The Merry Widow), Il Principe (La Bella Dormente nel Bosco), and Pluto (Orpheus in the Underworld). During his first season in Stuttgart, Sam notably made his debut as Cassio in the première of Silvia Costa’s new production of Otello.
