Review

The DEBUT Classical Singing Competition, which took place for the twelfth time in 2024, has established itself as an important platform for young talents in the international classical music scene. Over the years, numerous singers have been honored with awards and the Viktoria Trophy.

DEBUT 2024

Soprano Lubov Karetnikova won 1st prize and the “Golden Viktoria” and received 10,000 euros.

The 2nd prize and the “Silver Viktoria” as well as 7,500 euros went to Pete Thanapat from Thailand. The “Bronze Viktoria” and 5,000 euros went to Defne Celik.

DEBUT 2022

The Golden Victoria and €10,000 in cash were presented to Kudaibergen Abildin, a tenor from Kasachstan.

Second prize and €7,500 went to ukrainian soprano Inna Husieva. The Bronze Victoria and €5,000 were bestowed on tenor Beomjin Angelo Kim from South Korea.

The first prize, the Golden Victoria and €10,000 in cash, was won by Karolina Bengtsson, a soprano from Sweden.

Second prize and €7,000 went to south-african tenor Katleho Mokhoabane. The Bronze Victoria and €5,000 were bestowed on bariton Modestas Sedlevicius from Lithuania.

The first prize, the Golden Victoria and €10,000 in cash, was won by Vasilisa Berzhanskaya, a mezzo-soprano from Russia.

Second prize and €5,000 went to the Chinese mezzo-sporano Yajie Zhang. The German baritone Konstantin Krimmel was delighted with the bronze Viktoria and a prize of € 2,500.

Second prize and €5,000 went to tenor Seungju Bagh. The Bronze Victoria and €2,500 were bestowed on countertenor Jungkwon Jang.

The Golden Victoria and €10,000 in cash were presented to Kartal Karagedik from Turkey. Kartal Karagedik currently has an engagement with the Hamburg State Opera House for the 2017/18 season.

Second place and €5,000 went to Alexey Bogdanchikov of Uzbekistan. The Bronze Victoria and €2,500 euros were bestowed on Chinese soprano Yitian Luan.

The Georgian Anna Kasyan took second place. Christina Dietzsch was happy about the third place.

Burcu Uyar, the Turkish soprano, was winner of DEBUT 2006.

Second prize went to Russian singer Olga Peretyatko, a dramatic coloratura soprano. Third prize was awarded to South Korean baritone Tae-Joong Yang.

Her victory in the DEBUT Opera Singing Competition 2004 marked a decisive career step for Irini Kyriakidou, the young Greek soprano.

Second prize went to tenor Seung-Hyun Kim from South Korea. The third prize was awarded twice, to soprano Ina Kancheva from Bulgaria and baritone Jin-Ho Yoo from South Korea.

Caterina-Cellia Costea of Romania was proclaimed winner of the very first DEBUT Opera Singing Competition 2002.

Second place went to Geratdo Garcicano from Mexico. Annabelle Stratenwerth of Leipzig came third.
