Resonant Voices, Moving Moments
At the invitation of DEBUT, through our Artistic Director Clarry Bartha, we were honored to welcome the renowned mezzo-soprano and vocal coach, Kammersängerin Brigitte Fassbaender, for the DEBUT Masterclass from February 20-23, 2025. Over three intensive days, she worked with young singers on technique, interpretation, and musical nuances.
At the final concert in the Wittenstein Hall of the Tauber Philharmonic in Weikersheim, six female singers and two male singers presented an impressive program of arias and songs filled with emotion. The evening featured a diverse selection of works by Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Strauss, Rossini, and Massenet. Particularly memorable were the performances of the DEBUT award winners. Kudaibergen Abildin, winner of the Golden Viktoria 2022, excelled with the demanding aria "Di rigori armato" from Richard Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier and moved the audience with Puccini’s "Addio, fiorito asil". Caterina Marchesini, third-place winner in the 2022 competition, impressed with Rossini’s "Di mia vita infelice", while Barbara Skora showcased an impressive range with Mozart’s "Parto, parto" and Weinberg’s "Jüdische Lieder op. 13". Defne Celik, winner of the Bronze Viktoria 2024, captivated with her sensitive interpretation.
Accompanied by pianist Gaiva Bandzinaite, the singers created moments of pure musical magic. The grand finale featured Franz Lehár’s "Dein ist mein ganzes Herz", a moving ensemble performance that underscored the exceptional quality of this masterclass.
Among the talented participants were Caterina Marchesini, Lara Rieken, Defne Celik, Barbara Skora, Kudaibergen Abildin, Yuchen Pan, Samantha Faina, and Lena Geiger, who left a lasting impression on the audience.
