University Professor Dr.-Ing. Dr.-Ing. E.h. Dr. h.c. Dieter Spath, born in 1952, has been President of acatech, the German National Academy of Science and Engineering, since February 2017.
After studying Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich with a focus on manufacturing systems and production engineering, he received his doctorate from the Institute of Machine Tools and Industrial Management at the Technical University of Munich.
In 2002, he was appointed head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering and Organisation (IAO) and the Institute for Human Factors and Technology Management (IAT) at the University of Stuttgart before joining the WITTENSTEIN Group's Management Board in 2013. Since then he has been following the DEBUT classical singing competition with special interest.
In February 2017 he was appointed President of acatech, the German National Academy of Engineering Sciences.
