The Brasilian-American mezzo-soprano Melissa Zgouridi obtained her master’s studies of Lied and Oratorio with honors at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg in 2018. Her latest achievement was fifth prize, as well as the special prize “Mercedes Viñas” at the 57th Tenor Viñas singing competition. Her opera repertoire contains among others Roßweiße (Die Walküre), Bradamante (Alcina), Olga (Eugene Onegin) and Dame Quickly (Falstaff). As a concert and oratorio singer, she sang “Messias”, “Matthäus-Passion”, “Petite messe solennelle”, the second symphony by Mahler und Beethoven’s ninth symphony. Melissa Zgouridi will join the ensemble of the Saarländisches Staatstheater in January 2021. Upcoming roles are Siegrune (Die Walküre) and Mercedes (Carmen). She is currently studying with the American mezzo-soprano Katherine Goeldner.
