About Daehwan Kim

The tenor Daehwan Kim was born in Pohang (South Korea). He studied in Kyung-hee University and has been studying MA opera in the class of Alexander von Pfeil and Gernot Sahler since the 2020/21 season. As part of the course, he’s voice teacher is Christoph Strehl. In addition, he attended master classes with Roberto Frontali, Barbara Frittoli, Richard Bonynge, Andrew Watts and Vesselina Kasarova. He has won various awards: 3rd prize in the Suri Competition (2017), 1st prize in the Korea National Opera Competition (2018). The roles he has played Erster Geharnischter und Zweiter Priester as well as Parpignol (La Boheme), Rossini's Arnold (Guillaume Tell), Tito (La clemenza di Tito), Gounod's Faust (Faust), and Monteverdi’s Nerone (L’incoronazione di Poppea)
